Late, Very Late, Saturday Night -- Suite 518/520

After the walk through the park which ended up with her getting hit in the face and the stomach because something had River terrified and worried about Pippi, Phoebe bowed out of going to the clinic and instead returned to her dorm room. She was really glad that Cole was out with Seely because it meant she could check out the damage ahead of time and think up a plausible excuse as to why she was bruised and such.

She locked the dorm room and went to the bathroom and turned on the light. When she saw her reflection, she had to gasp.

"I look like hell."

That was followed by, "Cole is going to lose his shit when he sees me."

Phoebe cleaned up the blood from where her lip had been split and then sighed, wincing slightly as her stomach tensed in pain. Yeah, there were bruises on her stomach from one of River's fists. And her face... gah... that was going to be quite the impressive black eye.

She'd figure out what to tell Cole later. She was more worried about what had upset River so much since she had felt all of her fear and her worry and her confusion. Phoebe cleaned her face carefully, and then went to the freezer to see if they had anything to put on her eye.

She moved through the suite turning off every light before going into their bedroom to lay down for a little while.

"Anders just seems to have different requirements, Cally," she said quietly. "What kind of relationship do you want?"

"See, that's the biggest problem," Cally said. "I don't know what I want anymore. I mean, after all the stupid frakking things I did since I broke up with Anders I... I dunno."

"Was Anders your first really serious relationship?"

Cally nodded. "First lots of things," she said.

Phoebe sighed softly and then nodded. "That sometimes makes everything harder."

She looked at Cally. "If I tell you something serious, it's just between you and me, right?"

"Honest to gods," Cally said. "I promise."

Phoebe nodded.

"Cole... Cole wasn't my first boyfriend, but he was the first for me in many other things." Here, she blushed. "When Cole and I started getting closer, we both did a lot of things that ended up hurting the other. When he and I broke up... I did some really stupid things."

"Like how?" Cally said. "I mean... some of the stuff I did..." She trailed off. "Made me wonder if I should even be allowed to try and hook up with anyone."

"When Cole and I broke up... I went to stay with his worst enemy in Fandom," she confessed softly. "I wasn't really thinking, I was just reacting."

"I... Yeah. I might've slept with Walter. And, erm, Nadia. At the same time." Cally hung her head, embarassed.

"I woke up in bed with Crowley and Kiki..."

Cally rubbed her face, and she had to let out a sad laugh.

"Well, at least we know it's a common mistake or something."

"Sometimes when you're hurt, something breaks inside you and you just react on that hurt. Sometimes things that seem like good ideas... aren't." She gave a sad smile. "We're human. Humans are very prone to making mistakes."

"Yeah," Cally said. "Guess I just need to move on, or something."

Now it was Phoebe's turn to offer a hug.

"Moving on is easier said than done," she said softly. "It is never something I would say to a dear friend. Sometimes, there is emotional closure that part of you needs to achieve before you can get past one ending to find a new beginning."

Cally hugged Phoebe tightly. "Closure, yeah," she said. "That's the tricky part. I keep having folks disappear and leave on me."

Phoebe hugged her back just as tightly.

"You also have friends who are here for you to help you get through the bad times and who won't disappear on you."

"Yeah," Cally said. "Thank you." She pulled back, brightening up a bit. "But you can't really cuddle with your friends," she added with a wink.

Phoebe laughed. "Oh, the cuddling you can definitely do. It's the other stuff that can make things awkward."

"Exactly," Cally said. "And sometimes cuddling just isn't enough."

Phoebe smiled. "That is so very true."

Cally nodded and smiled. "I should probably get back to my room," she said.

Phoebe smiled. "All right. Thanks for coming by, though, Cally. Feel free to come by anytime."

"Definitely," Cally said. "Same goes for you. Hope the eye heals fast."

She turned towards the door.

"I'll remember that," she promised. "Me, too, as Cole is going to lose it when he sees it."

She walked Cally to the door. "Have a good night."
