Phoebe and Cole's Room at The Arms, Saturday Night

After saying goodbye to Aziraphale, Phoebe had come back to her room at the hotel.

It sort of broke her brain that if Angelus hadn't made an appearance she might have missed saying goodbye to her big brother. It was not a comforting thought.

She was sitting in a hair by the window, looking out into the darkness as she thought about the last week. Between Angelus coming back and Aziraphale leaving, it had been one of those really bad weeks that people talk of over strong alcohol.

It also might be one of those weeks that made witches cry when they thought no one could see them.

Anders had a feeling Phoebe would need a hug at the very least, and he could have used one himself after his own goodbye to Aziraphale earlier in the day.

Which was why he'd come back to the room a little early, and was sitting on the bed in a bathrobe waiting for her.

"Hey," he said quietly. "Come here."

Phoebe was failing at the tears thing and went to sit beside him.

Anders wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close against him. "I know, baby," he whispered hoarsely.

"So much..."

"It's not gonna be forever," Anders said, and felt horribly inadequate at comfort after saying it.

"I keep telling myself that."

"And I'll keep telling you that until we both believe it," Anders replied, touching a finger to her lips lightly.

Cole didn't need to see her, he could feel it when Phoebe was sad. "It's not for forever, love," he said quietly, taking her in his arms.

Phoebe hid her face in his chest.

He held her close, stroking her hair. "You'll see him again," he murmured. "Promise."

Phoebe nodded against him. "It's just... had all of this not happened I may not have gotten to say goodbye."

"So something good came out of it," Cole said, pressing his lips to her forehead. "You were meant to be here."

"I don't like that I owe Angelus a thanks for anything."

"You don't owe him anything, sweetheart," Cole said. "That was just a coincidence."
