Tuesday Night, After The Vortex, Suite 518/520

After watching the kidlets vanish through the vortex -- and realizing that she was seeing Pandora for the last time, Phoebe had turned and bolted blindly from the park. She kept running until she reached the dorms and stumbled into her and Cole's rooms.

She moved blindly through the main room and into the bedroom. Seeing the bed which that morning had been filled with them and all of their chilldren caused a fresh burst of tears to start. She crawled up into the middle of the bed and curled around one of the pillows as she sobbed.

Cole and Anders had followed Phoebe from the park. Quietly approaching the bed, Cole sat down and put his hand on Phoebe's shoulder. "Sweetheart?" he said.

Phoebe tried to stop crying, but she couldn't. "Gone." She managed to gasp out. "Never see them again." And then, "She'll never exist."

Anders bit his lip, knowing what she was talking about, and sat down on the other side of Phoebe. "I know, I miss them too."

"She exists somewhere," Cole said. "And maybe you will see her again. All of them."

"Why? Why did this place give them all to us and then take them away? Why?" She shook her head. "It gives us these seven wonderful little people and then tears our hearts out by taking them away again!"

Anders looked helplessly at Bel. He didn't know what to say to that, because he was close to tears himself. "I don't know," he admitted. "I really don't."

Cole laid down on the bed, curling against Phoebe. "You're a witch and I can shimmer between dimensions," he said. "If there's a way, we'll find it."

Phoebe curled up against Cole tightly -- pretty much clinging to him, and then reached a hand out towards Anders to pull him with them. "Hurts so much."

Anders nodded and curled up next to Phoebe, holding her from the other side. "They're good kids, all of them," he said. "I'm gonna miss them like hell."

Especially Pandora.

"I'll miss them, too," Bel said. "But they're safe with parents who love them now. Maybe they'll even come to school here someday."

"Hurts so much," Phoebe sniffled. "They're ours and now they're gone."

The fact that the three of them were curled up tightly and holding on to each other was starting to help calm all of the emotions that Phoebe had been picking up since the Vortex opened -- or at least help her shield against them.

"I know," Anders said, resting his cheek against her shoulder. "I miss the hell out of them already. But they're out there with us somewhere."
