Phoebe had been gathering as much information a spossible for what they were planning -- including a spell or two that she hoped would come in handy.

After gathering everything into a small bag, she went to make some coffee. It was highly doubtful she would be sleeping tonight.

She placed a call to Blair, and then went to sit down, going over her notes again.

Phoebe got up from the couch where she had been dozing and opened the door. When she saw who it was, she gave a soft smile. "Hey you."

"Hey," Anders said, smiling back at her. He glanced into the room and noticed all the paperwork Phoebe had spread everywhere. "Lots of preparations to make, huh?"

Phoebe ran a hand through her hair, gesturing him in. "I just wanted to make sure I get the stuff committed to memory."

Anders nodded and, on impulse, went to give her a hug. "You'll do great," he assured Phoebe. "And I wanted to let you know that I just ran into Nadia, and she's on board to help."

Phoebe hugged him back. "Thank you, but I'm still worried. I don't want to fail him again like I did before." She smiled. "Nadia? Terrific. She's always a great person to have on your side."

"She volunteered before I could ask," Anders said wryly. "Wait, fail him? YOu never . . . why do you think you did that?"

Phoebe sighed. "I should have known that it wasn't him long before I did."

"You love him," Anders said simply, trying to keep the wistfulness out of his voice. "You love somebody, it kind of tends to make you blind to their faults sometimes. I bet the Source was playing on that too. Hey . . . you won't let me beat myself up for what happened. So I'm not gonna let you."

Phoebe sighed softly. "We'll get him back... right?"

"We will." Anders reached out to take Phoebe's hands and squeeze them reassuringly. "We're not leaving without him."

She nodded. "Just keep telling me that when we're there and fighting the big ugly thing to save him?"

"I will," Anders promised. No matter what anyone said, he still felt somewhat responsible for everything that had happened, and as far as he was concerned he was going to do whatever he could to try and set things right. "I'm not gonna let you leave without him."

"Thank you," she said softly. "Having you on my side about this... having you believe me and all of the help you've been since... it's meant a lot."

Anders smiled at her. "I don't think there was anything else I could do. Maybe something good came out of all this mess the past couple of months after all, huh?"
