Tuesday Morning, 518/520

After gaining Wyatt's reluctant assistance, Phoebe had come back to her rooms yesterday afternoon and took a shower. She then cleaned the rooms very thoroughly and did laundry -- and how did her bra get up there? After doing all of that, she had passed out on the couch in the main room.

Today, she had moved the table and couch back so that there was a nice clear area in the main room with which they could work.

Hopefully, she'd be able to use the spell to go right to Cole and find out what was going on. She knew that Wyatt was worried that the voice she was hearing could be a trap, but she really didn't think so. She knew that it was Cole reaching out to her. Their souls had always been linked, so if he was in need of help, why wouldn't she hear him?

She laid a pillow on the floor where she would cast the spell -- no reason to give herself a concussion when she left her body -- and paced as she waited for the others to arrive.

"I'm on it," Wyatt said. He recited the spell from memory. "Return thy love, wherever she be, through time and space, bring her back to me."

One moment she was being pulled away from Cole by the evil pink things, the next minute she was waking up screaming in her living room.

"Phoebe!" Wyatt said, crouched beside her. "You're safe. You're all right."

Phoebe managed to focus herself. "Wyatt? Oh god... he's there and he's in trouble and it was going to eat me..."

"Eat you? What?" asked Anders. "So you were right, what you said yesterday? It's really him?"

Yes, he was full of questions but he was totally out of his depth here.

"You saw him?" Wyatt said, full of questions as well. "Where did you go? What was hurting you?"

"He's there. He needshelp and I think he's close to giving up. I cannot lose him again, guys. I cannot do this again!" She took a deep breath. "The Wastelands, a demonic Purgatory. There's this beast... with long tongues tentacles that was pulling me away from Cole and it was going to feed on me... we have got to get him out of there!" Phoebe might be bordering on hysteria.

Anders crouched beside her and put a hand on her shoulder and was not at all jealous of any tonguelike appendages that might be trying to invade Bel's personal space. "Okay. Okay. Breathe," he said, even though he was breathing a little quicker himself. "We'll get him out. I have no frakking idea how, but we'll get him out."

Phoebe nodded. "I'd bet my life on it."

Wyatt was still dubious, but he wanted to give his aunt his support. "How do we get him out?" he said. "Can we even? Is he alive?"

Phoebe nodded. "He seems to be. He's held on so he could say goodbye to me..." Phoebe shuddered a little bit. "But so far he's still alive and we have to help him. That thing..." She looked at Anders. "He was happy that I had heard him and he wanted to make sure that I knew that before it wasn't him..." She looked at both of them. "I will not just leave him there."

Anders exhaled slowly and ran a hand through his hair. "I wouldn't let you just leave him there. We don't leave people behind. Whatever you need me to do, I'm in."

Phoebe smiled. "Oh come on, you know Anders will keep an eye on me while you guys are gone. I'll be fine."

"I'll talk to Chris," he said, still eyeing Anders.

"Stop looking at me like that," Anders said irritably -- and maybe a touch warily. "I might not know magic like you guys but I'm not completely helpless."

"Sometimes," Anders replied, his voice even. "Sometimes I frak up my way into situations."
