Friday Night Late, Suite 518/520

Phoebe had been pretty busy the last few hours. After meeting with Piper, Phoebe had lent her sister the Book of Shadows, and then had hurried back to the dorms. After digging in her closet, she pulled out a large box.

She placed that box on the couch and smaller box on his desk by his computer.

She laid out the dinner she had picked up and brought back to the dorms and then lit the candles. On the table was a card that said "Happy Birthday, Baby".

Once she was certain she had everything set up and the table looked nice, she made herself comfortable in her favorite chair by the window to wait.

After a brisk round of killing the slayer, Bel returned to his room. His left cheek had a deep gash in it from the fight.

He spotted the candles and dinner and smiled, looking around for Phoebe.

When he came in, Phoebe unfolded herself from the chair and approached him to embrace him. However, she stopped and looked at his cheek with concern.

"Love? You're injured. What happened?"

"It's nothing," he said quickly. "Just a scratch."

"Who did this to you?"

[demonbelthazor]

He ran through several excuse in his mind. "I cut myself shaving" probably wouldn't work. "I was walking home from town," he said sheepishly. "A wind gust blew a tree branch at my face, and I didn't duck fast enough."

Phoebe let out a breath she didn't realize she had been holding.

"I was afraid you had been attacked," she admitted. "Let me get some stuff to clean that up."

"I'm fine, really," he said, sitting down at the table. "But I suppose a bandage wouldn't hurt."

Phoebe got some stuff from the medicine cabinet and cleaned up the gash on his face. After bandaging it, she returned the stuff to the medicine cabinet and then sat down at the table with him.

"Happy Birthday, love."

He leaned toward her and gave her a kiss. "Thank you, sweetheart," he said. "You're too good to me."

Phoebe kissed him back and then smiled. "You make it easy to be." She ran a hand through his hair. "Dinner or presents first?"

He grinned at her. "Presents!"

Phoebe laughed and got up from the table to grab his gifts. First, she handed him the large box.

Bel tore open the box and pulled out the jacket. "Thank you," he said with a smile, trying it on.

Phoebe grinned. "It looks great on you."

"What else did you get me?" he said, batting his eyes at her.

Phoebe bit her lip a little nervously, and then handed him the smaller box.

"If you don't like it, I can exchange it for something else, love."

"It's lovely, sweetheart," Bel said, slipping the ring on and admiring it.

Phoebe smiled. "I'm glad you like it. When I saw it... I knew you had to have it."

"It's like a wedding band," he remarked.

Phoebe managed to blush. "I guess it does kinda resemble one..."

He raised an eyebrow. "Is that a hint?" he asked playfully.

Phoebe blushed again. "I just thought it would look good on you, soulmate," she f inally managed to squeak out.

"Mmm hmm," he said, drawing her closer to him.

Phoebe let herself be drawn closer to him and smiled faintly. "It does look nice and... official I guess..."
