Friday Evening -- Suite 518/520

Phoebe was curled up on the couch in the main room with a blanket wrapped around her. She had taken a very long shower -- so long that the water had turned cold. She got dressed in something comfortable and sat on the couch, where she couldn't seem to get warm. She knew it wasn't a temperature type of cold -- it was an internal and emotional cold. The kittens were on the couch with her as well.

She had been silent for the most part, putting things together in her mind from the last few days. She was also watching Cole make a continuous stream of phone calls -- including one to River.

"How can I face them?" she finally whispered as he hung up the phone for the last time. "I must have hurt them all so badly."

"They understand, love," Cole said, sitting down by Phoebe and putting his arm around her. "It was the spell, not you."

Phoebe curled into him. "I was going to leave... and I didn't seem to care."

She was really upset that she hadn't understood she was upsetting people when she told them about swimming out to sea.

Lana all but flew up to the suite when she got Bel's call and banged on the door. "Phoebe!!!"

Phoebe looked up at Cole and then swallowed, looking to the door.

"It's open, Lana!"

Lana burst through the door and ran to Phoebe, throwing her arms around her. "Phoebe, oh Phoebe, you're back! Thank God!"

Phoebe hugged her friend, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I'm sorry... so sorry... it wasn't... I never would have..."

"Phoebe, who cares? You're back and you're not a mermaid and you're here! Nothing else matters!"

Phoebe hugged her tighter. "I'm here. I'm here and not going anywhere."

"I'm so glad. How... what happened to make you change back?"

Phoebe pulled back a little. "Cole," she said softly, looking at him. "He brought me back."

Lana smiled over at him. "Thank you, then. Thank you for finding a way to save her."

She turned back to Phoebe. "I was so sad and scared. I knew you were going to go out to sea and I'd probably never see you again."

"The spell played out as it was meant to," Bel said vaguely. "So that broke the backlash."

Which meant... Bel had told Phoebe what she needed to know...

Lana looked from Bel to Phoebe and back. They both seemed content, so it must not have been anything either of them couldn't handle.

"I'm happy for you both, then," she said with quiet sincerity. "Should I go so you two can have some time alone?"

"I'd like it if you'd stay for a while," Phoebe said softly. She wasn't quite confident yet that things are okay between her and Lana.

Lana smiled at her. "If you're sure I won't be intruding, I'd love to stay for a bit."
