South Attic - Sunday Night

After seeking out Angel and confronting Cole on the roof, Phoebe had a lot of emotions running through her. When Cole shimmered them from the roof to the Attic, the first thing Phoebe did was lock up the dagger in her steamer trunk. She then turned to Cole, and not able to stop herself, she threw herself at him and just held him to her tightly.

So many things had happened in the last few months and right now, she didn't care about any of them. The only thing that mattered was this moment... Angel had helped her save Cole.

She pulled Cole to the bed and sat down with him and then turned to look at him. She ran a hand through his head, just studying him for a long moment.

"Are you okay," she finally asked.

Talking to him about how he was helped keep the reaction from the premonition at bay.

"Yeah," he said softly, letting out a shuddering breath. "Are you okay?"

"I don't know... I've never died in a vision before... I've never projected one onto others, either." She pulled him to her and held him. "Tonight... the last few weeks have been rough on you."

He gave her a gentle kiss, then drew back. "We need to deal with the Dragon Blade first, love. Make sure no one else can use it."

Phoebe sighed and then picked up the phone.

"Piper? I have the dagger... can we bring it to you?"

"You want to go over there alone, or should I come with you?" Cole asked, squeezing her hand.

"Cole and I are on our way."

She hung up the phone. "You're coming with me. They need to know that you gave Angel and I the dagger willingly and I didn't have to steal it from you like I did the drawing."

Cole nodded. He hoped it would just be Piper there, and not Veronica. He wasn't sure what he could say to her now. Taking Phoebe's hand in his, he walked with her to the East Attic.

After leaving the East Attic, Cole shimmered himself and Phoebe back to their room. They sat quietly on the bed for a few moments until he asked, "So now what?"

Phoebe ran a hand through his hair as she looked into his eyes.

"I'm thinking that first you should grab me and kiss me like we haven't done in awhile?"

Cole didn't speak. He just looked at her for a long moment, a myriad of emotions in his eyes. Then he pushed Phoebe down on the bed and moved over her, his weight on his hands as he brought his lips down on hers for a passionate kiss.

Phoebe let out a breath that she didn't realize she had been holding when he kissed her. She was home. She lifted up to wrap her arms around his neck and kissed him back, trying not to let too much emotion flood into her. She finally broke the kiss and stared into his eyes.

"I've missed you so much," she said softly.

"I've missed you, too," he said. "When you're not with me, I can feel it, like part of me is gone." He kissed her again, then shifted his weight so that he lay beside her, pressing his head against her shoulder.

Phoebe held him to her, stroking his hair, doing her best to give him the comfort she knew he needed.

"I know," she said softly. "I feel the same way. It's like I'm missing an arm... or worse." She dropped a kiss onto his hair.

"I hope I can be the man you think I am," he said softly. "I'm not sure I know how. Or where to start."

"You already are," she said gently. "You just can't see it because it's been forcibly hidden from you for so long. Tonight... tonight was a good place to start, love."

"How...how do I make others see?" Cole said. "You saw how Veronica and Logan were last night. How can I ask for forgiveness? My human half hates me for what I did to Veronica."

Phoebe stroked his hair as she thought about what to say.

"It's going to take time, soulmate. Give them their space, and give yourself some time. It's been a long time since you've had something to fill you like your desire for retribution and vengeance filled you. You just need to let yourself adapt to the idea that you have good inside you that others cannot see. Keep in mind the idea that you are not alone in this and there are peopel who believe in you without the need to convince them."

"You," he murmured, snuggling against her. "Angel. Piper surprised me. So did Angel for that matter. I thought he wanted to kill me. Angelus told me he would."

She tightened her hold on him.

"It wasn't you that I lost belief in, Cole. I've always believed in you. I don't think you want me say the obvious answer about Angelus..." Mentioning his name made her fight to repress a shudder as the memory flooded back. Cole needed comfort right now and she was damned if anything was going to get in the way of that.

"Piper is someone who can see there is more to people than what the eye first sees."

"Do you...do you understand why I thought I had to release him?" Cole asked, hoping she did.

Phoebe nodded. "I do, now," she said softly. "You shold ahve told me, love."

"It...it was a difficult thing to admit," he said softly. "I mean, I was never wanted when I was younger. Then you and Angelus both wanted me...for different reasons, I mean. I think. I didn't want to lose that feeling -- from either of you."

She put a hand under his chin so he could look into her face.

"You won't lose that feeling, Cole, not from me. I will always want you, always love you."

"I'll always love you, Phoebe," he said, giving her a tender kiss.

Phoebe kissed him back, letting him feel how much she loved him and how much he was wanted here with her.

Cole's kiss grew more insistent, and they faded to black before the clothes started flying.
