South Attic After "Cole" Leaves

Phoebe made it slowly to the bed she had gotten used to sharing with Cole and curled up in the middle of it. She held onto Cole's pillow and just sobbed for a good long while. At some point between last night at Caritas...and this morning, Cole had decided he didn't want to be with her anymore.

"You're not my girlfriend."

What was worse was that he wanted Callisto, instead.

She reached for her phone and left a hysterical message for Piper, and then also called Camulus as she had decided to take him up on his offer.

After that, she just lay in the bed, with Valkyrie and Seraphim standing guard, feeling like she was dying.

Bel hurried up the stairs to the attic, cursing his inability to shimmer at the moment. He reached the door to the south attic and yanked it open. "Phoebe!" he called out.

Phoebe lifted her head from the bed. "If you're not Piper go the hell away." Then she saw Angel. "Especially YOU!."

"Phoebe...." Bel pressed gingerly against the open space of the doorway, expecting to bounce off. Surprisingly, he didn't, but he knew he'd never invited Angel into the Attic. Had Phoebe? He stepped into the room. "What happened? Are you okay?"

After her morning, Phoebe isn't surprised to see Angel just walk right in. Apparently, the invite from Beka had never be rescinded.

"Have you lost your soul again," Phoebe asked hopefully. "Because if you have, I'd appreciate it if you just kill me and be done with it, okay?"

Phoebe looked at him in disbelief at his question, and then winged a book at his head. "I just got dumped by my boyfriend who would rather be with your girlfriend, so I am decidedly not fucking okay."

She's kind of surprised that the kittens aren't warning Angel the hell away from her.

So Angel was in his body instead of in the snowglobe. How the hell had this happened? And how did he get it fixed without getting blamed for it. "Phoebe...love...." he said, reaching out to her.

Reaching out to touch her and calling her "love" was probably not Angel's best plan.

She drew the knife she kept under her pillow and pointed it at Angel.

"Look, just because your girlfriend is being a ho who thinks you're not enough for her and wants my boyfriend, too, doesn't mean I'm like that. He may have dumped me, but I still love him and am not going to come falling into your arms. I'd sleep with Crowley before you."

"Phoebe, it's me!" Cole said, yanking his hand back. "It's Cole. I didn't dump you!"

Piper got to Phoebe's room as soon as possible. When she got there, she saw that Phoebe was crying. And Angel was standing there. "The hell?"

"Piper!" Phoebe sobbed, stumbling around Angel and collapsing against Piper.

"Phoebe, what's going on?" Piper asked, worried about her sister.

"I've been hit by some spell, Piper," Bel said, looking at her. "Phoebe...doesn't understand that yet." He turned toward Phoebe. "It's me, Bright One. It's Cole."

Phoebe turned her head when she heard "spell" and "Bright One". She held onto her sister but looked at "Angel" in confusion. "...Cole?"

"It's me, love, it's really me," Cole said. "Someone somehow swapped me and Angel I think." He would never admit it was him.

Stepping Aside with Piper

"I honestly have no idea how this happened," Bel said to Piper, pulling her aside. "I went to be here and woke up...as Angel."

"You're really Belthazor?" Piper asked, still very confused. "You sure you haven't been drinking or something?"

"Go ahead, ask me something only Belthazor would know," Bel said. "It's really me in here. And I want back in my own body."

"What did you try to steal from my room a few weeks ago?" Piper asked, somewhat amused.

"I didn't try to steal anything," Bel protested. "I didn't try to steal the Book of Shadows!"

Piper wasn't sure this was enough proof. "I still don't quite believe it's Bel I'm talking to."

After Piper Leaves

Phoebe stared at "Angel" tentatively and then reached for him.

"Cole?" she whispered.

"It's really me, love," he said sadly. "I didn't mean for this to happen, but...."

Phoebe reached for Cole, tears springing to her eyes again. "He...he broke up with me..." She swallowed. "Wasn't you?"

"Wasn't me, Phoebe," he assured her. "I have no interest in Callisto, you know that. All I want is you. And I want to kill him for hurting you," he added with a growl.

Phoebe nodded. Now that the shock of what was said to her right upon her waking up, Phoebe could definitely feel the difference. She could feel the silver cord from her soul to his.

"I...I should have realized...should have felt that he wasn't you. You wouldn't have told me that I'm not your girlfriend first thing upon waking up."

She wrapped her arms around him. "I thought you were blaming me for the attack and..."

"I'm so sorry, love," he murmured, holding her close, his face buried against her neck. His plan going wrong was one thing. His plan going wrong and hurting Phoebe was quite another. He had to get this fixed and fast.

He kissed her neck, feeling her pulse beneath his lips.
